Sacramento Valley Leathercorps History

The Sacramento Valley Leathercorps (SVL) was initially formed as the Capital City Leather Association (CCLA), in 1997, in Sacramento, California. The members voted to change the name to Sacramento Valley Leathermen in 1998, to better reflect our impact in the area and our expanded goals for our growing membership and community influence. SVL was incorporated as The Sacramento Valley Leathermen, Inc. in 2002. In early 2006 in order to continue our growth we once again made the decision to change our name and become a gay men's and women's organization. Our new name became The Sacramento Valley Leathercorps

SVL supports safer sex and safe sex educational programs that encourages individual responsibility as well as personal freedom to make informed choices and decisions regarding sex and sex play. SVL also seeks to educate and mentor members of the Leather/BDSM communities through our Leather 101 classes and other club activities.

Our community involvement includes, but is not limited to, fund-raising activities for various local AIDS and other charities in the Sacramento area. We operate a Community Services Fund through which we fund these charities as well as our own community outreach and educational programs. We have also been involved in annual Christmas toys and food programs. We operate outreach booths at local fairs and festivals, as well as produce several unique fund-raising activities each year. These events are held at various locations including leather/gay friendly establishments in the local area and occasionally extend into outlying regions.

Our club activities include our quarterly Pancake Benefit Breakfast at The Mercantile, title holder contests, Leather Nights, car washes, parties, monthly Board and General Membership Meetings and other events in addition to our annual anniversary celebration.

Our home bar is:
